Create Happiness

Create Happiness

create-happiness-thumbEveryone likes to feel accomplished, like they’ve done something they can be proud off. A good way to do this is to do something creative. Being creative can also have the added benefits of distracting your mind from everyday frustrations, and being able to get out your emotions in a constructive manner.

Maybe its the feeling of actually doing something, but I always feel better after I have done something creative. I also get excited about showing people my work, and what they might think about it. This makes me happy, and gives me something to look forward too, which makes my day much more enjoyable.

Creative works can come in many forms. Painting, Graphic Design, video editing, drawing, writing, and performing music are some of the many types of creative activities you can do. You just need to find out what works for you. If you don’t believe you have any creative talent, I believe you are kidding yourself. You just need to actually step up and try something. Everything takes practice and effort. If you are not sure where to begin, think of something that seems interesting to you, and take a class on it at a local college. If you want to go a cheaper route, you can also ask a friend with an interesting artistic skill to teach you what they know.

You can also teach yourself a creative skill.  All but one of my personal creative skills were self taught. Now I do admit, I am better at some things than others. However if I really want to know how to do something, and am willing to put in the time and effort, i can teach myself how to do many different things. The first step to this is figuring out what you want to learn. The rest is basically just research and practice. A great source of information to learn about a skill is the library. They have books on just about every subject, and its free. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t pick up something right away, very few people do. The point is to stick with it, and if you do, you will eventually make something you will be proud of.

Creative skills are a fun way to escape the everyday pressures of life, and can also give you a way to show off your own unique skills and talents. While you are trying out different creative skills, you might even find the one thing that gives your life meaning and purpose. Who knows? Maybe one of your creative works might even be the next big thing. (Hey dreaming is a source of happiness too, and it could happen.)

Game Away

Game Away

game-awayEveryone worries, but sometimes you worry too much. This worrying can get so bad, that it feels like it will drive you insane if something doesn’t stop it. Often times you can’t do anything about these things, and you just stress yourself out more by worrying about it. In these situations, what you need is a distraction. There are many things you can do to distract yourself from these everyday nagging worries. However one of the best things I’ve found to do that really distracts your mind is playing games.

Games are a great way to distract yourself from lifes little nagging thoughts, especially if its a really intense game. The more challenging the game, the more concentration it requires, the less you will spend worrying about stupid things. Also if the game is really hard, you will feel proud of yourself when you beat it, and you will come away feeling happier, and much less stressed.

I know not everyone has a video game console, or the money to blow on one. Obviously though you all have a computer, and you can find computer games at your local retail store that sometimes cost less than a plate of food at a resterant. You can even go to flash game sites and find some games that are completely free.

There are many different types of games too. You can find games on everything from saving a world, to creating a world, to cooking, to car racing and war. You can even become a rockstar through a game. I’ve even seen games where you babysit pets. With all these choices and more, you are bound to find some game to help you escape lifes everyday worries.

Now you might be thinking, “oh that’s kids stuff.” However, have you ever noticed how much time kids spend playing games, and how much happier kids seem to be than most adults? Now maybe this is a coincendence, but maybe not. Its worth a shot though, if nothing else you might bring out your inner child, and have a bit of fun as well.

Whether it be gaming or not, the point is to get your mind fully involved in what you are doing and keep those worrisome thoughts away. However, a word of caution. Do not get too dependent on games. Addiction to anything, even games, can become a serious problem. So be careful, don’t take it too seriously, and have some fun.
